The design proposal addresses the problematics defined by the land and the architectural program while questioning what a monumental building conceptually is. The TMT Monument and the existing vegetation are the bases for decisions on the allocation of spaces. In addition, a circulation scenario, starting from B. Nalbantoğlu Street and ending with the Peace and Democracy Park, was envisaged. The main access road, ceremonial area, mausoleum, museum, and a park are located on the “promenade” created to realize this scenario.

The design dwells upon the idea that when a valuable thing is lost, it is possible to sustain it in our memories with the help of a designated monument. Therefore, the project has a simple structure designed to serve this purpose solely. The form contains a visual relationship between the city and its inhabitants. It begins with the transportation axis, continues with the ceremonial area, and finally reaches the image of a sharp prism. This monumental prism integrates with the existing burial place without changing its location and protects the memory underneath.
